2013 Gates Vaccine Innovation Award given to VillageReach Field Officer Margarida Matsinhe, Mozambique

January 30, 2013

We are thrilled to announce one of our employees, Field Officer Margarida Matsinhe, has been selected by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation as the 2013 recipient of the Gates Vaccine Innovation Award.

Margarida, who works on VillageReach Dedicated Logistics System (DLS) program in Mozambique, is being recognized for her work to implement innovative new approaches to increasing vaccine access for thousands of children in remote communities.

In his annual letter, Bill Gates highlights goal setting and measurement as critical practices for the development community. We couldn't agree more.  As Margarida and her colleagues continue to demonstrate, the power of innovation is only realized through constant measurement and evaluation.

Vaccinating millions of children across the world requires the dedication of many thousands of frontline health workers. We are particularly proud to see one of our own partners' employees acknowledged for her dedication to this effort.

Please visit VillageReach website for more information on Margarida and our work.  Please see Bill Gates' annual letter for more information on the award.
