The Agricultural Development and Nutrition teams at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation are now accepting letters of inquiry for the development of a consortium focused on improving nutrition outcomes through optimized agricultural interventions in Africa. The consortium will be comprised of agricultural and nutrition experts. Letters of inquiry for this opportunity are due June 7, 2013.

The Grand Challenges Brazil partnership has launched Reducing the Burden of Preterm Birth. This program seeks to develop new ways to prevent preterm birth, improve the survival, health, and development of preterm infants, and scale-up known effective prevention and treatment options.

Grand Challenges Explorations, an initiative of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation that encourages innovative and unconventional global health and development solutions, is now accepting grant proposals for its latest application round. Applicants can be at any experience level; in any discipline; and from any organization, including colleges and universities, government laboratories, research institutions, non-profit organizations and for profit companies.

Ideas can be powerful agents of change. A second online challenge has been released to identify extraordinary and unorthodox ideas that can improve the lives of the world's most disadvantaged people. The prize aims to identify and support outstanding but unfunded ideas.

The University of Washington Coulter Translational Research Partnership Program and the University of Washington Global Center for Integrated Health of Women, Adolescents and Children (Global WACh) are pleased to announce the 2013 request for applications for the Global WACh/W.H. Coulter Foundation Pilot Grants.

The American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene offers travel awards to attend the Society's Annual Meeting to students, early career investigators and scientists actively working in the tropical medicine field. Applications due April 3rd. 

The purpose of the Thomas Francis, Jr. Global Health Fellowship is to promote global health by providing financial assistance to graduate or professional students who would like to gain practical global health field experience in international and/or underserved community settings.

The GO Health Fellowship provides financial assistance to a graduate student, professional student, or medical resident at the University of Washington so that they may gain valuable international fieldwork experience in global health. Letter of intent due by 2/15/13.

The Global Alliance to Prevent Prematurity and Stillbirth (GAPPS) is now accepting letters of inquiry to identify and develop research sites in low- and middle- income countries as part of a collaborative, multicenter research initiative to investigate causes of and novel strategies for prevention of preterm birth and stillbirth through prospective studies of pregnant women.

Afya Bora Consortium Fellowship in Global Health Leadership is now accepting applications for the 2013-2014 Fellowship year. There are 20 positions available for health professionals interested in a 12-month fellowship (starting June 2013) in one of their partner African partner countries (Botswana, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda).
