The HIV Diagnostics team is now accepting Letters of Inquiry for the identification of novel biomarkers that can be used effectively to measure HIV incidence at the population level. We are looking for biomarkers that could be used alone or in combination, and that are at the initial development stage. Applicants can be at any experience level; in any discipline; and from any organization, including colleges and universities, government laboratories, research institutions, non-profit organizations and for profit companies.

There are two different scholarship applications - one for young people who will be under 30-years-old at the time of the conference and one for those who will be 30-years-old or over at the time of the conference. All scholarship applications are due April 15, 2012. We will offer full scholarships to a select number of participants in order to maximize participation from those who are traditionally under-represented; namely, young people and those from the Global South. This support includes conference registration, round-trip economy class airfare, hotel accomodations and a fixed stipend for visa fees and other incidentals.

The Fogarty Leadership Fellows program provides graduate level (Master’s or PhD) students with specialized training to improve leadership, management and policy skills in the field of health sciences. Fellows will receive intensive leadership, management and policy training during the spring 2012 quarter, followed by a bi-nationally mentored three-month project in Peru.

The Afya Bora Consortium Fellowship in Global Health Leadership will provide trainees with a set of practical skills that will prepare them for leadership positions in government, non-government, and academic health institutions in developing countries.

This award will provide up to $30,000 for 1 year of funding for interdisciplinary Clinical-Bioengineering research projects with clear translational potential. Any Bioengineering Department Faculty Member may team up with a clinical researcher with a faculty appointment or similar appointment at an affiliated institution to apply for this grant. Applications are now available for the GO Health Fellowship (Global Opportunities Health Fellowship). This fellowship provides up to $4,000 (USD) to support student travel costs so that they may gain valuable international fieldwork experience in global health. It is available for graduate students, professional students, or medical residents at the University of Washington. Applications are due by March 14th, 2012.
