What We Do – High School Ambassadors Program
Global health curriculum inspires Washington state high school students
Washington Global Health Alliance (WGHA) Ambassadors
WGHA Ambassadors educates the next generation of global health leaders and their teachers through creative curriculum designed to expand students' thinking about importance and relevance of health for our world and our own lives. Ambassadors leverages the collective WGHA intellectual and organizational resources to support student advancement and the development of a robust, 21st century workforce and a vibrant global health community.
The Ambassadors curriculum was developed through a public-private partnership with teachers and world-class researchers and program leaders. WGHA Ambassadors program’s emphasis on interdisciplinary learning across algebra, chemistry and U.S. history fosters contextual understanding of real-world issues for 11th grade students.
WGHA Ambassadors curriculum is now used in more than 70 Math, Engineering, Science and Technology (MESA) high schools across Washington state. Four Washington state schools participated in the creation of the program, which is lead by WGHA Executive Member organization Seattle BioMed:
- Blaine High School
- Cleveland High School
- Health Sciences and Human Services High School
- Toppenish High School
