Monty Montoya pursues the world-wide elimination of corneal blindness with a passion. In the world of corneal transplantation and eye banking his expertise, international reputation and focus is simple and singular: eliminate corneal blindness at a global level. SightLIfe is the largest and most respected corneal tissue recovery and processing organization in the United States. Monty is largely responsible for eliminating the waiting list for corneal transplant surgery patients in The Pacific Northwest. He led the research team that developed the laboratory process to utilize laser technology in corneal surgery, thus shortening the surgical recovery period from 12 months to 12 weeks. He founded the SightLife Global Health Program that literally teaches professionals in third world countries how to develop the capacity to serve their own countrymen. Monty serves on multiple corporate, non-profit, community Boards both locally and internationally. He is the recipient of The Puget Sound Journal’s 40 Under 40 Award. He has also received The Leonard Heise Award, which is the highest honor bestowed upon anyone in his field. He holds a BS Degree from Arizona State and an MBA from Duke University.
