Where We Work

WGHA leadership envisioned capturing an overview of where global health organizations work, the scope of their projects, their facilities and their partners. Such a resource would increase efficiency, inspire innovation and identify additional opportunities for collaboration. This information is also intended to increase the understanding of the scope and diversity of the global health sector for stakeholders, donors and policymakers.

The results of this study are astonishing. The nine participating organizations collectively represent 480 separate global health projects being conducted in 92 countries, including the United States. Additionally there were 587 unique partners identified with those projects, illustrating the sector’s ability to transcend traditional boundaries.

With this initial study, WGHA identified programs, projects, partnerships and facilities for nine of our executive members — the organizations actively implementing discovery, development and delivery of international global health solutions. We recognize that this initial effort is not complete. This was the first organizational attempt to capture this information. Therefore, this report represents a snapshot to demonstrate the innovation, collaboration and effect of Washington’s global health sector at this moment.
