The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center
The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center is devoted to the elimination of cancer as a cause of human suffering and death. Together with UW Medicine and Children’s Hospital and Regional Medical Center, Fred Hutchinson is the only National Cancer Institute comprehensive cancer center in the Pacific Northwest. The center is home to approximately 200 research groups working in four divisions: basic sciences, human biology, clinical research, and public health sciences. With an annual research budget of nearly $240 million, the center receives more research funding from the National Institutes of Health than any other freestanding research institution. Fred Hutchinson’s faculty includes three Nobel laureates and seven members of the National Academy of Sciences.
