Pacific Health Summit Report 2009
Every June, the Pacific Health Summit brings together 250 top leaders from science, industry, policy, public health, and civil society to discuss potential solutions to some of the world’s toughest health challenges. Now in its fifth year, the Summit has built a legacy for bringing together a diverse audience to formulate the next steps in reaching health goals. This year’s theme, “Multiple Drug Resistant-TB: Overcoming Global Resistance,” focuses on highlighting successes and potential improvements in the fight against this challenging disease. The Pacific Health Summit is co-presented by two Washington Global Health Alliance Executive members, Fred Hutchison Cancer Research Center, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, as well as the Wellcome Trust and the National Bureau of Asian Research, which serves as the Summit secretariat.
The Pacific Health Summit 2009 Report, which resulted from Summit recommendations, discusses a variety of topics associated with MDR-TB. Topics include mobilization of industry for engagement, the impact of MDR-TB disease progress on global health, and what role every stakeholder plays in the fight against MDR-TB.
