The Value of Exchange Programs: Q2 2022 Final Mile Logistics Working Group Meeting
June 2 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm
On February 24th, two days after Lynden Logistics’ Q1 Final Mile meeting, Russian military forces invaded the Ukraine and major armed conflict returned to the European continent. After two years of quarantine closed borders, political upheaval, and global supply chain disruptions we now face still new challenges and uncertainties in international trade and cooperation that could not have been foreseen in 2019. We have no shortage of worldwide priorities to address but in these times it is also important to remind ourselves of the things we can do on a regular basis to knit that fabric that brings nations and people closer together for good rather than conflict. International exchange programs have that value.
In a week, 6 professionals from European countries will begin a four week fellowship with organizations in the Puget Sound area under the US Department of State YTILI program (Young Transatlantic Innovation Leaders Initiative). World Chicago is administering the nationwide program of approximately 50 fellows and the World Affairs Council is coordinating the activities of these guests and their hosts in Seattle. Just before the end of their time here, we will bring them all together on a ZOOM virtual panel presentation hosted by GlobalWA to hear their impressions of our region and what they will take home from their time here. Please mark your calendars now to join us in June!
