Communications Intern

Malaria is one of the world’s most deadly diseases. It kills hundreds of thousands of people every year. Malaria Partners International is a group of Rotary members committed to inspiring a broad international Rotarian campaign for global elimination of malaria.
We are looking for a dynamic, self-starter Communications Intern to support our organizational marketing and communications efforts. This internship is an excellent opportunity to experience various aspects of marketing while working for Seattle-based global non-profit organization.
The Communications Intern reports to the Social Media Manager and supports the overall strategic and operational goals of the organization.
This role will be a minimum of four hours a week. This is an unpaid role but can be used towards course credits if eligible.
Support marketing and communications needs of the organization including but not limited to:
•implementation of the organizational marketing plan
—Writing, editing and creating newsletter and website articles, direct mail pieces, fundraising appeals, press releases, etc.
• content creation and ideation in partnership with the Social Media Manager
• Assist in planning, writing and managing the monthly eNewsletter
• Draft, distribute and pitch small grant success stories for website, newsletter & social media
• Assist with updating our website when needed
• Create reports on marketing campaign impact
• Attend weekly team planning and implementation meetings
• Collaborate with the team on new ideas and directions for marketing and
• Support the production of the organizational Annual Report (Indesign)
• Assist with designing marketing materials to support major conferences and events
—(pins, pens, and handouts, as well as display items for booths, etc.)
—coordinate printing
•Support the preparation of marketing materials for Rotary Club presentations
—(PowerPoint slides, handouts, etc.)
—coordinating with presenters for content
Support the operational needs of the organization by:
•Providing technical support to board and team members related to email, Salesforce, and Microsoft Office 365, etc.
•Assist with data entry as requested
• Firm grasp of marketing tools and social media
• Completed or working toward a college degree, preferably in a related field (e.g.,
English, Marketing/Communications, or Public Relations)
• Previous internship or related experience in marketing or communications is a plus
• Working proficiency in MS Office; working knowledge of IT and Salesforce,
WordPress, and SharePoint. Knowledge of HTML and graphic design a plus
• An effective communicator, both written and oral
• Self-motivated, good organizational skills, detail-oriented, ability to prioritize, multi-
task and meet deadlines
• Enthusiasm for the mission of Malaria Partners International and the communities we
• Knowledge of marketing principles and best practices
