Summer High School Internship Program (SHIP)

Position Description

SHIP interns are comprised of a diverse group of students entering their senior year of high school who are interested in biomedical research. During the summer they participate in a full-time 8-week program focused on providing career guidance, mentored research, and college application support. SHIP draws from students who live in the Puget Sound region.

Program Length: 8 weeks

Application Deadline: March 31, 2020


  • High school student entering senior year or final term after the summer
  • Strong scientific interest and academic background
  • Ability to attend on-campus interview
  • Available for the entire eight-week program, June 25 and June 29 to Aug 21, 2020

Students from racial and ethnic groups traditionally underrepresented in health sciences, persons with disabilities, and persons raised in economically disadvantaged backgrounds are especially encouraged to apply.

Financial Information

Interns are provided a stipend. More details will be provided to applicants invited for an interview.
