Surveillance Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, Malaria and Neglected Tropical Disease

The Malaria and Neglected Tropical Diseases program, as a leader in the effort to end malaria illnesses and deaths, refines and develops tools and approaches, supports national programs, and builds evidence and data to empower national governments to pursue malaria elimination.

PATH is seeking an experienced Surveillance Officer to coordinate the Malaria and NTD program’s global work supporting multi-country assessment, strengthening, and evaluation of malaria surveillance systems.  Through the Malaria Control and Elimination Partnership in Africa (MACEPA) project and others, PATH is working with national malaria control programs across Africa to improve the collection, reporting, and use of malaria surveillance data to support timely, accurate, and rationale decision-making to optimize the impact of interventions. Reporting to the Senior Scientific Director, the Surveillance Officer will lead the design and implementation of assessments of malaria surveillance systems in Africa including documentation of existing strategies and approaches and development of roadmaps for system strengthening. The Surveillance Officer will additionally work closely with the global and country data/analytics and research/evaluation teams to support data quality assessments, program evaluations, and other analyses using routine health information system data.
