Director, Innovation Exchange (Consultant)

About the Role

The Washington Global Health Alliance (WGHA), a non-profit membership organization, seeks an established leader who will be responsible for the overall success of our newly launched Global Health Innovation Exchange (the Exchange). The Exchange connects WGHA investment partners with our members to accelerate development of new products and companies that will transform the landscape of human and planetary health technologies. This role will be directly responsible for identifying and securing new investments partners into the Exchange, as well as building WGHA’s Executive Membership base who will participate in the Exchange’s new product and company offerings. This role is highly suited for a person who has an extensive background in investor and alliance development, is skilled at creating and implementing strategic business plans, and has a solid understanding of emerging markets, with specific expertise in Health Tech, Pharma, Biomedicine, Medical Devices, and Climate Tech. Experience managing alliances and building new companies and products in the Global Health and Development space is required. While this role will initially be that of a paid consultant, demonstrated success will rapidly open avenues for a full-time executive position.

This role is currently a fulltime position, remote-only, based on West Coast hours. There is a possibility that it may become an onsite position in the future.

Qualifications
• Master’s degree (or higher) in science, business, public health, global development or related field
• At least 10+ years working in Global Health, Global Development, Public Health, Biomedicine, Pharma, or Medical Devices
• Comfortable dealing with “C” level decision makers in NGOs, Government, Multilateral and Private stakeholders
• Demonstrated experience creating and implementing innovation based solutions, strategic business plans, and successfully launching new products and companies, with a solid understanding of emerging markets.
• Minimum 5+ years working in a start-up environment
• Portfolio and Program management experience including program development, budget creation, go-to-market plans, customer and vendor relationships.
• Experience in venture capital, alliance management, and business development.
• Familiarity with non-profit organizations including governance and funding policies.
• Excellent public speaking and presentation skills
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability to think strategically and to lead in a start-up environment

• Strong partnership skills

Responsibilities
The WGHA Exchange Consultant will hold primary responsibility for the success of the Exchange by securing new investment partners, growing our executive membership base, and ensuring fluid and accurate communication between all Exchange participants as well as managing programs supporting the Exchange. To be successful this leader will need to:
• Provide outstanding operational and strategic management to ensure day-to-day and long-term planning goals are being met.
• Build and grow our investment partner pipeline and secure new investors into the Exchange.
• Expand current Executive membership and foster relationships with new and existing members.
• Direct events and communications between Exchange participants with a special focus on delivering accurate and timely information between the parties. This will include development of a knowledge sharing framework wherein investors can see, in real-time, active opportunities for investments presented by our Executive members.
• Identify new investment opportunities for the pipeline and assist Exchange members in developing their strategic plans for product and newco launches.
• Develop and maintain Exchange governance and compliance parameters including operational procedures, policies, and program management.
• Plan and participate in all Exchange-related activities and attend weekly meetings with WGHA staff.
• Participate in WGHA executive leadership and strategic planning
