Exemplars in Global Health (“EGH”) is a program that brings together experts, funders, and partners around the world with the mission of identifying positive global health outliers, analyzing what makes countries successful, and disseminating core lessons so they can be adapted in comparable settings. EGH aims to contribute evidence and support to help norm-setting bodies, donors, governments, and technical assistance providers make strategic decisions, allocate resources, and craft evidence-based policies. EGH is a consortium of global partners and is headquartered at Gates Ventures, the private office of Bill Gates, in collaboration with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and a broader network of co-funders.

A successful candidate will own the end-to-end success of one existing portfolio within EGH, aligned with the candidate’s unique expertise. Potential topics include:

Health adaptation to climate change
Pandemic preparedness and COVID-19 response
The impact of structural discrimination and racism on public health
Women’s health and wellbeing, family planning and adolescent sexual health and rights

The successful candidate will lead all aspects of one of these topics, with the purpose of identifying Exemplars, understanding their success factors, and supporting the uptake of best practices elsewhere. Topic responsibilities include developing and maintaining partnerships, co-creating study design, overseeing research execution, shaping research outputs so they are accessible to a broad audience, proactively ensuring meaningful impact of the work, and scoping future directions.

Ultimately, we seek to create a compelling product that will enrich the global dialogue around each of these topic areas to address evidence gaps in the field. Given the above topics are in different stages of maturity (research has yet to begin in some topics but is nearing completion in others), there will be differences in focus between research design, execution, dissemination and future direction depending on topic.

This team member will be supported by dedicated topic analysts and managers who will drive project management and execute analysis for the overall program, as well as potential research fellows for additional research and content capacity.
