Rhea Coler
Senior Investigator/Scientist, Seattle Children’s Research Institute (SCRI)
Dr. Rhea Coler has a background in establishing multi-disciplinary teams with scientists from microbiology and immunology disciplines, biologics production, and the development of vaccines, adjuvants and immunotherapeutics. She has 20+ years of experience in studying a variety of infectious diseases, as well as antigen discovery and adjuvant development in academic, biotech and non-profit environments.
Dr. Coler has led vaccine development from the benchtop to human clinical trials in her roles at the Infectious Disease Research Institute and as Vice President of Research and Development at PAI Life Sciences Inc. Her expertise in infectious diseases was obtained largely through interactions with researchers in her role as a scientist with positions held in the UK, the Caribbean, Tanzania, and the US. She has a proven track record of publications in high-quality, peer-reviewed journals and is a PI or co-Investigator having successfully secured funding from NIH/NIAID, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Paul G. Allen Family Foundation, the Medical Research Council, the Wellcome Trust, The European Commission, and PATH.
Dr. Coler is an Affiliate Professor at the University of Washington in the Department of Global Health. She mentors future generation researchers at undergraduate, graduate, postdoctoral and scientist levels. She received her Ph.D. from The University of Washington, M.Sc. from The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and B.Sc. from McGill University.
